Give the Lines A Hand! (3rd Grade)

3rd Grade has been working very hard on our warm color/ cool color assignment.  1st we talked about what colors are warm and what colors are considered cool.  Then we traced our hands on our drawing paper.
Next students drew concentric circles starting from the middle point of their paper.

Students then colored their hand with warm colors and colored the outside (negative space) with cool colors.  They were to color their shapes in completely and cover as much white as they could.

The last thing they were to do was to outline their pencil lines with black markers in order for their picture to pop!

Here are some finished hands!

The hard working fourth graders have been busy working on drawing elephants.  We learned about how important elephants are to the people of Sri Lanka and I showed them images of elephants all dressed up for the elephant processions.  Students then drew elephants along with me.  They colored and decorated their elephants and glued them onto a 12 X 12 piece of construction paper.  Then they added patterns and lines to the background.  The students really enjoyed this project, I hope you do too!
