5th grade just completed the last lesson of the year on the artist Keith Haring. After showing them a Flip Chart on the artist along with some images of his artwork we got busy making our own Haring figure. I showed them how to draw a figure. Then they cut out the figure and glued it down to a new piece of construction paper of a contrasting color. They traced around it leaving a 1/4" border, then cut that out and glued it to another piece of colored paper. After doing it once again they cut out motion marks and surround their figure with them in order to replicate Harings work and show movement. Here are some examples of their work.

This is a Kindergarten lesson about Georges Seurat and Pointillism. We learned about Georges Seurat and talked about a few of his paintings by going to the Starfall artist page. We then did a guided drawing on how to draw a fish. The students then used their markers very gently in order to create and color their pointillism fish. Here are some of the cutest fish ever!
A BIG CONGRATULATIONS goes to Raul for being 1 of 14 winners of the Fort Worth Knowhat2do severe weather poster contest. His work will be printed in a calendar for next year and he will receive movie tickets as well as a trophy. I am so proud of ALL of my 4th grade students for working so hard on this. I'm a lucky art teacher :)
